Inon Barnatan replaces Robert D. Levin for Les Violons du Roy concerts on November 6 and 7, 2025

Quebec City, October 23, 2025 – Due to health reasons, pianist Robert D. Levin will unfortunately be unable to perform at the concerts scheduled for November 6 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Salle Raoul-Jobin at Palais Montcalm and November 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Bourgie Hall at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. We wish him a speedy recovery.

We are nonetheless delighted to announce that internationally renowned pianist Inon Barnatan will replace him for these two performances alongside conductor Bernard Labadie and Les Violons du Roy. Hailed by the New York Times as "one of the most admired pianists of his generation," Barnatan is recognized for his "impeccable musicality and phrasing" (Le Figaro) and his "uncommon sensitivity" (The New Yorker).

Inon Barnatan performs regularly with the world's foremost orchestras, including the Boston, Chicago, and Cleveland symphony orchestras, as well as the BBC Symphony and the London Philharmonic. He served as the inaugural Artist-in-Association of the New York Philharmonic from 2014 to 2017. Music Director of La Jolla Music Society Summerfest in California, he is also celebrated for his acclaimed discography, including his recent album Rachmaninoff Reflections and his recording of Beethoven's concertos. Barnatan previously collaborated with Les Violons du Roy during an American tour in late April 2023.

The program will feature major works by Johann Sebastian Bach, including five excerpts from The Art of Fugue (Contrapunctus I, II, VIII, XI and IX), the Keyboard Concerto No. 1 in D minor, the Italian Concerto* performed solo, the Ricercar à 6 from The Musical Offering, and the Keyboard Concerto No. 5 in F minor.

Purchased tickets remain valid for these concerts.

*Work performed at the evening concert only
