DESCRIPTION
Under the authority of the Music Director and the Director of Artistic Administration, the concertmaster alternates between the positions of concertmaster and leader of the 2nd violins (approximately 50% of programs, in agreement with the concertmaster).
REMUNERATION
Under the current collective bargaining agreement of Les Violons du Roy, the co-concertmaster will receive a salary of $1,561.27 per week of work, over a guaranteed annual minimum of 34 weeks. Les Violons du Roy offer group insurance (health, life, accident, and employee-assistance), contributions to a pension fund, and vacation plans. Musicians of Les Violons du Roy are eligible for employment benefits for weeks not worked and must be members of the GMMQ and the American Federation of Musicians.
BOWS AND PITCH
Les Violons du Roy play on modern instruments but use baroque bows for pre-1750 repertoire, and classical (transitional) bows for works from the Classical period. For the audition, the baroque bow is mandatory for baroque repertoire. The pitch used is 442Hz. An accompanist will be available on request.
