UNE TROMPETTE PRODIGIEUSE
Quebec City, May 3, 2018 – Young French trumpet player Lucienne Renaudin Vary will make her Canadian debut with Les Violons du Roy with two famous concertos by Haydn and Hummel. Mathieu Lussier, associate conductor of Les Violons du Roy, will lead the musicians in a sparkling program at Palais Montcalm - Maison de la musique in Quebec City on Thursday, May 24 at 8 p.m. and at Maison symphonique de Montréal on Friday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m.
Young trumpet prodigy Lucienne Renaudin Vary has been conquering the world with her talent and virtuosity. At only 17, she was named Revelation - Instrumental Soloist of the Year at the Victoires de la musique classique in 2016, a highly prestigious award in France. She first fell in love with the sound of her chosen instrument while studying at a music conservatory. As she explains:
“I was in a sight singing class at the Le Mans Conservatory, and the trumpet teachers came and gave an introductory workshop, because they needed more trumpet students. That’s when I discovered my instrument. I knew right away. I just loved playing and started working really hard out of sheer enjoyment.”
With Les Violons du Roy, Lucienne Renaudin Vary will play the two greatest concertos in the trumpet repertoire: F.J. Haydn’s Concerto in E flat Major and J.N. Hummel’s Concerto in E flat Major. Mathieu Lussier will also conduct Les Violons du Roy in a selection of orchestral works, including the Symphony in C Major (“La prise de la Bastille”) by Flemish French composer O.J. Vandenbroek but falsely attributed to K.D. von Dittersdorf, and Haydn’s Symphony No. 96 in D Major—one of his best, with explosive passages, rustic dances, and sweet melodies.
Così fan tutte, K. 588 (Overture)
Concerto for Trumpet in E flat Major, Hob. VIIe:1
Symphony No. 96 in D Major, Hob. I:96 “Miracle”
