LES VIOLONS DU ROY AND LA CHAPELLE DE QUÉBEC RETURN TO THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS CONCERT HALLS IN THE UNITED STATES IN 2020
Quebec City, May 9, 2019 - Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec are pleased to announce that the orchestra and choir will each be touring the United States in 2020. They will be back at some of the U.S.’s premier stages, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Les Violons du Roy are also proud to announce that the orchestra will be making its Philadelphia début at the Zellerbach Theatre on April 25, 2020.
Under the direction of Les Violons du Roy music director Jonathan Cohen, the orchestra will pursue its collaboration initiated last year with mandolinist Avi Avital. Together with the star soloist they will present a program of works by Bach and Vivaldi in seven U.S. cities. This tour, made possible thanks to the collaboration of agency Opus 3 Artists, will take the musicians westward across the U.S. from April 21 to May 3, 2020.
In March 2020, Bernard Labadie, founding conductor and music director of La Chapelle de Québec, will conduct the choir in three concerts in the United States. Together with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, of which Labadie is the principal conductor, the choir will perform Beethoven’s Mass in C Major at New York’s Carnegie Hall. The choir will then join the Los Angeles Philharmonic to give two performances of the Fauré and Duruflé requiems at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
For over twenty years, Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec have toured North America at least once a year. This time, the organization will make its 11th appearance at Carnegie Hall in New York City and its 10th appearance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. The orchestra and choir are delighted to bring the Quebec music scene into the international spotlight.
