JONATHAN COHEN ET L'ENFANCE DE L'ART

Quebec City, May 30, 2019 - To cap off Les Violons du Roy’s 35th season, music director Jonathan Cohen and the orchestra musicians have cooked up a program that celebrates the incredible inspiration shown by great composers such as W.A. Mozart and F. Mendelssohn when they were still young. Full of life and musical ingenuity, the concert will culminate in Haydn’s Violin Concerto No. 4 in G Major with Pascale Giguère as solo violin. The concert will be given on:

Thursday, June 6, at 2 p.m. at Palais Montcalm - Maison de la musique in Quebec City
Friday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. at Bourgie Hall at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts
Sunday, June 9, at 2 p.m. at Palais Montcalm - Maison de la musique in Quebec City

Jonathan Cohen invites audiences to a unique musical experience that everyone can enjoy:

“For me, music finds its meaning when shared. It plays a role in our society and communities through its power to reach and move audiences of all ages. I’m delighted to be conducting the closing concert of Les Violons du Roy’s 35th season—my first season as the orchestra’s music director—and to be working with talented young local musicians for the June 9th concert,” says maestro Cohen.

On Sunday, June 9, at 2 p.m., Les Violons du Roy will also have the pleasure of welcoming young musicians on the stage of Palais Montcalm - Maison de la musique’s Raoul-Jobin Hall. Violinist Anaïs Saucier Lafond, who took home the Les Violons du Roy Foundation Award at Concours de musique de la Capitale 2018, will play two movements of Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major. A group of student musicians from Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique du Québec will join the orchestra as well. And children of Les Violons du Roy musicians will be onstage to help perform the Toy Symphony, attributed to Leopold Mozart. The Sunday, June 9 concert is a perfect outing for families and is free for children 12 and under accompanied by an adult.
