Position description: Under the authority of the Musical Direction and the Artistic Administration Direction, the two co-concertmasters in place will be assigned the role of either concertmaster or leader of the second violins for a precise number of weeks and programs during a season. The rotation of the co-concertmasters in the role of concertmaster or leader of the second violins will be done in close cooperation with the incumbents of the positions.

Salary: Based on the Violons du Roy’s current collective agreement, the co-concertmaster will receive a first level salary plus a 30% premium, equal to 1 493,32$ CAD (gross) per week of work, for a total of 50 772,98$ CAD (2019-2020 scale) annually. The salary is based on an annually minimum of 238 services over 34 weeks. Les Violons du Roy provides a 7% contribution to the person’s pension fund and offers a group insurance plan. The musicians of Les Violons du Roy are eligible for employment insurance.

The musicians of Les Violons du Roy are members of the American Federation of Musicians.

Bows: The musicians of Les Violons du Roy play on modern instruments, but use replicas of baroque bows for the repertoire dating before 1750 and classical bows (transitionals) to perform works of the classical period.

Please note: For the audition, the baroque bow will be mandatory for the baroques works.
