HANDEL’S MESSIAH LED BY BERNARD LABADIE
BRINGS ON THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT
Québec City, November 28, 2019 - Handel’s Messiah conveys a universal message of light, hope, and joy. Under the baton of founding conductor Bernard Labadie, Les Violons du Roy, La Chapelle de Québec, and four internationally renowned soloists offer up this choral masterpiece cherished by music lovers everywhere. The concert will be presented on:
- Wednesday, December 11, at 8 p.m. at Palais Montcalm – Maison de la musique in Quebec City
- Thursday, December 12, at 8 p.m. at Palais Montcalm – Maison de la musique in Quebec City
- Friday, December 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Maison symphonique de Montréal
Bernard Labadie is delighted to be sharing the oratorio—considered a signature work for Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec—with audiences once again. Over the years, the orchestra and choir have performed Messiah more than fifty times in fifteen cities across North America.
“The Messiah has been with me since I began as founding conductor. Every time I pull it out, I discover something new and fundamental that moves and inspires me,” says Maestro Labadie.
As always, Labadie has enlisted prestigious soloists for the occasion. Soprano Marie-Sophie Pollak, countertenor Tim Mead, tenor Aaron Sheehan, and bass baritone Matthew Brook will be joining the musicians and choir to perform this brilliant work by George Frideric Handel.
For the December 11 concert in Québec City, a group of young listeners invited by local community organization Le Pignon Bleu will attend the concert for free courtesy of Énergir, a valued partner of Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec.
Tickets are available from the Palais Montcalm - Maison de la musique box office at 418-641-6040 (toll free at 1-877-641-6040) and the Place des Arts box office at 514-842-2112 (toll free at 1-866-842-2112).
