Quebec City, September 7, 2018 - Kicking off his very first season as music director of Les Violons du Roy, Jonathan Cohen is pleased to join exquisite countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo in an exciting program of works by G.F. Handel and Philip Glass. The concert will be performed on Wednesday, September 26 at 8 p.m. at Palais Montcalm - Maison de la musique in Quebec City and on Saturday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Maison symphonique de Montréal.

Jonathan Cohen says he’s delighted to be a part of this exceptional concert:
“I am thrilled to begin my first season as music director of Les Violons du Roy with the program Anthony Roth Costanzo Sings Handel and Glass, which will open our 2018–2019 season with a bang. This program of works by Handel and Glass may seem like a strange combination at first, but—as often happens in the arts—the stark contrast between two different musical worlds is spectacular.”

For the concert, countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo will perform arias by Handel and Glass, juxtaposing Baroque music and the incantatory expressiveness of musical minimalism. Costanzo is known for his awe-inspiring voice and for his artistic creativity, which is revealed in his bold stage performances. Two instrumental pieces will round out the program, for a musical experience like no other.
