Noëlla Bouchard began to study the violin at the age of 5 with Lucille Johnston, and went on to work with Johanne Arel and Raymond Dessaints at the Montréal Conservatory, where she obtained a Premier Prix diploma in violin and a Second Prix in chamber music in April 1992. From 1992 to 1995 she continued her studies with Moshe Hammer in Toronto. She has received financial assistance from the McAbbie Foundation, La Fondation des Cent Associés and the Québec department of culture, and was a finalist in the 1994 International Stepping Stone competition in Vancouver. While still a student, Noëlla Bouchard performed with many different groups, including L'Orchestre des Grands ballets canadiens, L'Orchestre symphonique de Laval and L'Orchestre baroque de Montréal. Since 1995 she has been a member of Les Violons du Roy.
